Free medical illustration!
**EXTENDED until Friday at midnight** For this contest, we are giving away TWO prizes. Two is better than one, no? We’ll draw from comments on this post made before midnight Friday (Nov. 18, 2011).
1. For anybody, one signed medical illustration print!
2. For art buyers*, a $500 credit towards a custom medical illustration or animation! (No purchase necessary to win or redeem. For example, could be used for one free line drawing + reproduction rights, or as part of a larger project.)

To enter: Leave a comment below! Not sure what to say? How about… which organ is the best; heart, lungs or kidney? Make a note if you are an art buyer so we can add you to the $500 drawing.
*you make or are involved in the purchasing decision on medical illustrations, at an agency, device or pharma company, or related organization.

Hi there! I am very proud of you and the work that you’ve done so far. NASS was a huge success, with thanks to you! You are one VERY talented lady.
Kidneys ROCK
Thanks so much. This Kidney is blushing.
Hi Maya!
I also hail from Michigan (woooo Plymouth!). I am a senior in the art and design school at UofM seriously looking to be a medical illustrator. Thanks for sharing your awesome adventures on your clog!
PS. I don’t have a favorite organ, but my favorite muscle is the sternocleidomastoid.
Great to meet you Kyla! Yay Michigan. :)
What do “perfect” vocal folds look like compared to ones with nodules?
Smooth, non-inflamed, cylinders… they almost remind me of two pieces of straightish macaroni. http://bestpractice.bmj.com/best-practice/monograph/1090/resources/image/bp/3.html
Hi Maya,
I can not believe it has already been a year since y’all started Shoemaker Medical! I am so proud of you for following this dream. I love keeping up with you on your blog and I would love love love a signed Maya print :)
Love your fellow medical illustrator,
Jenn
Thanks so much Jenn! :)
I agree with Kim Kuhl’s comment! Also, do two apples a day keep the doctor twice as far away?
yes.

Why hello Maya,
I made some delicious juice today and thought of you. It was pineapple, orange, apple and a couple of blueberries. Then around lunch time I made some beet, ginger, carrot, celery, lemon and apple juice. I think my liver will like all that. Liver is my favorite organ.
yum! I can’t wait to get a juicer! Liver, nice choice.
Thanks entrants! I decided to extend the deadline so I can get more art buyer entries… but you are all getting something extra special for chiming in early! :)
Hey guys, congrats on the business doing so well. I love checking out all of your illustrations. I don’t think I have a favorite organ, but I am especially interested in the Lungs, since I have asthma and all. But I love the pics of bones/joints since I work in Rheumatology. Keep up the good work.
Miguel. (Mikie)
Thanks Mikie! :)
Why hello! I’m feeling like lungs are my favorite today – nothing like lungs to help give you nice deep yoga breaths :). BTW congrats on Shoemaker Medical thus far, and for Clint joining the practice coming up!
Gotta love the lungs. Breathing rocks. Also, thanks so much! :)
Maya! We loved having you illustrate on the booth at NASS – paintings of the spine were amazing! Sorry I missed your streaming today, and I owe you a call for some “art buying.” I miss your kidneying around! Liver it up outside of the corporate walls! And best of luck intestine the waters of freelancing!
Theresa, I Lung this.
