About the Team

Maya Shoemaker is the owner and lead illustrator. She likes to dress up as a kidney. Business, science, and art are some of her loves. Maya is a highly-trained professional who decided to open Shoemaker Medical so she could do more of what she loves: medical illustration, animation, and helping clients take a project to market. Clint Shoemaker is Maya’s husband, best friend, and right-hand man. He provides animation support and keeps the place running smoothly. He has a background in communications and a love for history and organization! Clint helps ensure a project is managed well, from start to finish, with a focus on customer needs. We would be nowhere without this amazing partner.

Nik Chaphalkar is a service systems engineer with a degree from Michigan Tech. He helps businesses make the best of their human systems. Although this is a new “field,” the principals are timeless. He loves efficiency and currently works for a school-bus route software company in Missoula, Montana. Nik will be helping us with business development. Check out his blog!

Raj Chaphalkar is a PR, writing, and leadership guy based out of the Twin Cities. He works in alumni development at Saint John’s University in Minnesota. Raj will be helping us with business development and brand. Sometimes he writes copy for us, sometimes he edits copy for us, and sometimes he is part of our “think tank” for new business ideas.

Drew Shoemaker is an established insurance representative and Secretary/Treasurer at Shoemaker Group, a family company serving Michigan small businesses. He knows how to keep his customers happy and his friendly face is always a sight for sore eyes. Drew is a fabulous salesperson and will be helping us with business development.

Dev Chaphalkar is an up-and-coming mechanical engineer with lots of experience building and testing things like composite turbomachines. He is also a great windsurfer working on his new water-sports career. Dev will be representing the Shoemaker Medical brand through a windsurfing sponsorship. We are so excited to have him “on board.”

Kay Shoemaker is a newly-minted nurse from Ferris State University with an interest in administration. She excels at everything she does and loves helping others. Kay is not only smart, she’s great with people and always makes you feel more comfortable. Kay will help represent Shoemaker Medical to her connections in hospital and health-care settings.

Jill Shoemaker is also a new graduate with a nursing background. She is exploring future options and has many paths open to her. She is interested in caring for humans and adorable animals. We think of Kay and Jill as our second set of twins, but unlike Nik and Raj, they do not share a birthday. Jill will be helping to represent us to her connections in the health-care industry.
